State of the Collection: Jan 2025
At the very end of the year a new watch joined the collection as a forward-thinking purchase for my son's first automatic. I will, of course, wear it for him until he's ready to handle something that will not take kindly to being smashed into the tile floors in our house. That piece is the Seiko 5 SNKL23J1 on a brilliant jubilee-esque bracelet from Long Island Watch.
Shortly after the new year, I sent the Islander off to my cousin Eric. He's received it and is quite pleased with his new membership to the automatic watch owner's club. A few days after shipping the Islander off, I sold the Tissot as well.
Having added one automatic while sending two more on to new homes left me with two open slots in my watch box. One on the quartz row, and one on the mechanical. In my head, the quartz slot was going to be filled most likely by a second G-SHOCK, but after going and trying a few on the wrist I ended up coming home with yet another Seiko. This time, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC813. The deal was outstanding, and the sale of the Tissot helped cover it so I wore it home. The mechanical row still has an open slot, and if things work out all right through 2025 I may fill it with a Lorier Neptune IV.
